Terms of Service
Last updated 3 June 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of The Family Lantern (the "Service"), a care-coordination application operated by Corkskrew Applications Limited ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you are entering into an agreement with Corkskrew Applications Limited.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or continuing to use the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of a household or family, you confirm that you have the authority to do so. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.
2. The Service
The Family Lantern helps families coordinate care for a loved one, including shared visit schedules, medication tracking, appointments, and meal planning. We provide the Service on an ongoing subscription basis as described on our pricing page.
3. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. You must be of legal age to enter into a binding contract to use the Service.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you must not:
- use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose;
- send spam or attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or data;
- infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of others;
- upload malware, or probe, scan, scrape, or otherwise interfere with the security or integrity of the Service;
- reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the Service except as permitted by law.
5. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and content (excluding content you provide), is owned by Corkskrew Applications Limited and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose during your subscription. You retain ownership of the information you enter, and you grant us a limited licence to host and process it solely to provide the Service.
6. Payment, billing, and subscriptions
Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring monthly basis at the price shown on our pricing page. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation, and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Our own Refund Policy also applies.
7. Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings or via Paddle. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of your current paid period, after which billing stops and access to paid features ends.
8. Service availability and warranties
We work hard to keep the Service reliable, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. The Service is a coordination tool and is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you materially breach these Terms, fail to pay, create a security or fraud risk, or repeatedly or seriously violate our acceptable use rules. You may stop using the Service at any time by cancelling your subscription.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where this cannot be excluded by law.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of that jurisdiction. For any questions about these Terms, please contact Corkskrew Applications Limited through our support channels.
